Donna, your gentle courage to show up despite the fears and doubts is beautiful. This reminds me of a Tarot reading I recently received and I'm sharing in case it resonates. We don't have to be louder than anyone else to be heard. The right people will resonate and the ones that don't...well, there's someone out there for them too. ❤️❤️❤️ P.S. I'm curious to hear more about the angry emails you send.
Silvia, thank you so much for that. Yes it really does resonate - and makes me feel so much better!
Ahh - the angry emails lol! Both Nathan and Cerys have cerebral palsy and are full time wheelchair users. My emails are generally a response to someone in authority who has said 'no' to a piece of equipment, or social care support to allow them to do all the things they want to do eg work, volunteer and have fun with friends. Whilst the provision for children and the elderly is not great it is easier to access than provision for young people over 18. There suddenly seems to be a black hole when you slip over into young adulthood. When Nathan went to university we had to fight for the funds to have someone to support him to enable him to attend. When he needed a new supportive chair I had to point out that if one was supplied in paediatrics, to not supply in adults meant they were breaking the law under the Equality Act and age discrimination! That particular email(s) also resulted in the health authority looking into their policy for disabled young adults so that was a great result!
Thank you so much for sharing. Yes, the age borders are definitely frustrating. As if the support is then no longer needed...go figure! Sounds like your determination and persistence are shaking things up though. And that's how change happens, right? ❤️❤️❤️
