June
Life has been busy – no surprises there! – but that does mean there have been many magical moments…
1. My wonderful Dad, whose Alzheimer’s has robbed him of understandable speech, articulated perfectly his appreciation of the meal we had prepared him for Father’s Day – the words “this looks good” sounded so special and filled my heart with love and joy.
2. Although I haven’t had time to write much, at the beginning of the month, during Carer’s Week, I did produce an article giving my thoughts on caring which was published by Disability Talk. I’m informed that it had around 170 views! For me that’s a lot, and I hope it helped fellow Carers to feel that they are not alone.
3. Here in the Midlands, UK we have had hot sunshine and thunderstorms (although not today!) which are, perhaps, a fitting metaphor for life – personally we would prefer the sunshine as we have just had solar panels fitted to the roof of our house. I find it incredible that we will be able to harness the light and heat of the sun in order to provide us with warmth, food, and light just as our ancestors have done for centuries before us. The fact that they arrived on the day of the Summer Solstice made the whole venture feel even more significant. Just waiting for the scaffolding to be moved now. Lol!
4. Spending time with my husband – when life is hectic and there are demands from many corners it can be hard to take time out and just spend quality time with the one person who is always there. This month we took an afternoon away from everyone and spent it walking around a local National Trust property, chatting, and reconnecting. At Christmas, Cerys had bought me tickets to see SIX! and so we made the most of an evening out together by also enjoying a lovely meal. Relationships ebb and flow, and we’ve had a fair few challenges, so time spent together, just the 2 of us is precious.
5. Visits to hospital appointments, including one to check my pacemaker, that, so far, have proved I’m still ticking and kicking! I have a few more investigations in July, but feel well and have always believed in going by how I feel rather than how my diagnosis should make me feel!
So those are my special moments of June. I write about our family’s lives at Life and Other Stories if you would like to know more.
I would love to read about your magic moments in June, so please do comment or send me a link.
Thank you for reading

Either I forgot or I didn't know you're in the Midlands. Hello from the East Midlands. The cooler days we're having are a welcomed break from the heat. :)
