Monthly Magical Moments
July
July has been a month of fun and working hard, assessments and deliveries.
Here are some magic moments from our month
1. Every 9 months Nathan and Cerys have an update assessment by the Therapists at the Brainwave Centre. The assessment was extra special this time as it was held at our home. Both worked very hard, and not only were their physiotherapy programmes updated, but also all the equipment was looked at and their positions within them. If you would like to know more about Brainwave, and how the charity has helped our family, you can read more here.
2. Cerys was assessed for some new equipment that will assist her carers when transferring whilst she is out in the community. As the Occupational Therapist also assessed Nathan using the equipment, it means we will be able to give back a piece of equipment that is getting rather old and is no longer as safe as it needs to be. The delivery of this new equipment was also surprisingly quick!
3. As part of my annual check-up, I had blood tests, an ECG, Echocardiogram, Liver scan, and treadmill exercise test. Alongside my pacemaker check, I feel that I’ve had a thorough MOT, and now I just have to wait for the results. Maybe not the most magical of moments, but the fact I’m still here to have these tests and the miracle of modern cardiac science is magical to me.
4. Nathan has been offered a role within a new initiative by our local County Council, on a Board that will be advising on how social care can be improved in the area by those with lived experience. This he has accepted and he’s looking forward to being involved.
5. The end of college term and all the freedom that brings from the rush of the mornings and having to be in a certain place for a certain time. Life is so much more relaxed.
6. My husband’s birthday – although I doubt he would agree! – but still, he is the man that holds the family together, and therefore, should be celebrated!
